How to Measure Your Axle

Mount your 12" electric brakes on the axle flange with this bolt and nut. 3/8" UNC bolt and nut set for 12" brake backing plates. You need 5 per brake, or 10 per axle.

These bolts hold the brake backing plate to the flange welded at the end of the axle. Replace them when changing brakes or when a rusted bolt snaps during removal.

12" electric brakes are fitted on the 5200 and 7000 lb axles of flatbed, equipment and job site trailers. Count 5 bolts per brake, so 10 for a full axle.

They are also used to refit a backing plate removed to service the magnets or shoes. Plan one extra: a bolt dropped in the gravel is quickly lost.
